This morning when I got up, I noticed that I had one voice mail on my phone.
As I listened, the voice on my phone message started singing these words,
“I just called to say ‘I love you,’ I just called to say how much I care.”
I stood in the kitchen-
eyes closed,
smiling,
just feeling the warmth and love of this friend’s words and how much they meant to me as I begin another day of life without Nick.
What a simple yet thoughtful way to lift someone’s spirit!
Then as I came down to the tv room to have my quiet time and begin working on some of the things on my “to do” list, I sat here and thought about the power of words.
How things can roll so easily off of our tongues every day…and yet how much power they hold.
We can truly bless or curse by simply opening our mouths.
Our words are powerful.
Praying that as I speak today, I will speak blessings on my friends and my family.
Praying the same for you.
Thanks for that Tammy! I had an experience at work today…
I sing sometimes in the starbucks drive thru…wrote a little jingle and the words are, “Welcome to your Florence Starbucks, what can I get for you? Would you like a frappuccino or a coffee that’s fresh brewed?
So…I sang it this morning and the gal drove up crying because she had a bad morning and she said we made her day better…
It is nice to know God used my annoying song to bless someone else…
AND I had a bad attitude at the beginning of today too but it is a choice to spread joy…through a song or encouraging words…that is why i started singing the little song…
Anyhow I just thought I would share that!
Sometimes it is just the simplest things….I just need to make the time more often. So glad you had a sweet morning – hope it is a good week! Hugs – Jennifer
Tammy,
My sister and I started this funny thing where we would call each other’s voice mail and sing a 70’s tune. It was a fun way to just let the other one know we were thinking of them. It was amazing how many songs we actually could remember. Each day checking our voice mail was fun because we never knew when we would get a new voice mail or what the song would be. Then one day she played one of my ‘recordings’ to her fellow teachers and told them that it was my “audition” for American Idol. They all agreed that my singing voice was terrible and they all felt sorry for me, thinking that I thought I could sing and get on the show! LOL I thought it was so funny.
