A Thousand Gifts……….

Snow days ended today……..

The days of table games and sleeping in were traded for an early morning of lunch packing and supply gathering……………

and saying bye to Todd and Olivia as they darted out the door.

For me a few peaceful days remain. I return to the doctor tomorrow and might possibly be able to return to the classroom on Thursday.

But honestly, I panic at the thought.

I’ve gotten comfortable here at home again. My heart is here. So I’ve found myself really having to do some self-talk. Anxiety overcomes me in the dark hours of the night when I think of stepping back into a pace that too easily becomes too hectic.

I like a calm world.

So, for today, in the quiet of my house, I am going to do the only thing I know to do when I feel this way.

I am going to spend my day thanking God for all the little things that make life precious. Because I have found that when I stay thankful I have less time to worry, fret, or complain.

We are all surrounded by gifts. What are you thankful for today?

8. Ann’s challenge to make a list of a thousand gifts……………..I’m starting over for 2011.

As you live today, look for reasons to whisper, “Thank you.”

I Thess. 5:18

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

  1. I don’t know you, but we must have the same thinking pattern. After my 8 week stay at home back surgery many years ago, I was very apprehensive about going back to my third graders. Staying home is a safe place isn’t it, where you can think and do whatever. This morning I woke up, now retired, and felt a little low, until I rolled over, looked around and thanked God, listing one by one for things that just popped into my head. I felt better and got up. That first day back, if you feel tired, go home after a half day. I had to do that for a week before I could go full force. God bless you and keep your thoughts coming. I truly enjoy them each day. god bless you Tammy, Sandy from MD.

  2. I am reading and loving Ann’s new book. I have joined in with Bloom over at (In)courage in a reading group. They are going to do this book complete with video messages from Ann.

I have begun my journal. I am just hoping that with time it will become more of a habit.
