As we passed this art display in California, I thought to myself,
“Is this what church looks like?”![]()
So many lights in one place………
It’s beautiful, but at the same time, not really practical for what a light is called to do.
Jesus says we are suppose to be “the light of the world.”
We live in a time of great darkness.
Light is needed everywhere.
While church is important because we need a place to be encouraged and reminded that we are not alone in the darkness,
God uses us most when we are “the light” standing alone in a dark place.
Just think of all the unlit places that could be changed if these lights were separated.
Today, if you feel like you walk alone in a dark world, know that God is using you in a special way.
And the next time you are in church, look around and be encouraged…you are not alone in this dark world.
MATTHEW 5:14
You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

In December of 2007 as our youngest son, Nick, was fighting brain cancer, I began to blog. Writing provided a way for me to release all of my questions, fears, and doubts. It also allowed me to share the ups and downs of Nick's journey with people who were praying for him all over the world. When Nick went Home in November of 2008, my blog became my way of searching for God in the midst of my deep heartache. My heart was broken and grief brought to the surface every emotion imaginable. Being able to release those emotions through my writing brought a sense of purpose to my pain. Having already walked the road of grief in 1992 when we lost our daughter to SIDS, I knew I needed a way to keep from falling into a pit of depression and despair. I had walked close to the edge of a bottomless pit when we lost our daughter, and I knew I couldn't let myself get that close to the edge again. This blog has been and continues to be my tiny corner of the world where I can share My Heart as I journey through God's Word.......thus the name........ My Heart His Words. Thank you for taking time to share life with me. If we do not meet while here on earth, I look forward to hearing all about your life when we reach our final destiny.........Heaven! That’s awesome, Tammy! I’ve often related being a light to flashlights. They’re more useful when it’s really dark than at dusk, when there’s already a little bit of light. There’s a danger though, if you don’t keep your batteries charged you’re more at risk in the dark world. In the dark no one can see you trip, but no one really cares either.
Christine,
I love that analogy!! You are so right about needing recharged and tripping in the dark…….no one sees or often cares.
Love you!
Hope you day has moments of “recharging!”
Tammy 🙂
LOVE THIS! Thanks, Tammy.
I really liked this Tammy. Very vivid picture of what we don’t want to do. Stay all clustered together. So glad you are having a fun Spring break with Olivia. Safe travels when you go home.
