When Something’s Got to Give
You've been there, haven't you? Have you ever reached that place where the stuff of life has piled up so high you are unable to see the next thing coming? Your to-do list is longer than the number of hours in your day. Expectations are unreachable. Life's demands...
When We Fill the Air with Empty Words
I get tired of hearing empty words in the face of tragedy. Honestly, I often find myself with no words to offer someone who is hurting. I love that Job's friends, seeing his overwhelming sadness, simply sat with him for seven days without talking. I love that...
How to Feel Whole in a Broken World
In a world where so many are caught up in having more, needing more, searching for more, and longing for more, it's comforting to know that there is a way to reach a feeling of completeness. This feeling doesn't come from anything we can buy at the mall or read in a...
Living Your Dream
What is your passion? What kind of conversation can get you most excited? When you have free time, what do you like to do or think about? What if God longed for you to live within that passion? What if His plan for you involved that very thing that energizes you? ...
God’s Timing and Our Purpose
A year ago when I made my appointment for my annual exam, I had no idea that on that day particular day a year later a new nurse practitioner would be joining my doctor for the very first time. I also didn't know that she would almost not start rounds on that specific...
TWO LABOR DAY GIVE-AWAYS
This book by Matthew Cork and Kenneth Kemp will open your eyes to just how serious slavery, sex-trafficking, discrimination, and poverty are in India. When Matthew Cork visited India and discovered the Dalits, an extremely oppressed group of people, his world was...
When You Need to Make a List
If your mind is like mine, it often gets "filled up" with things to do, places to go, and people to call. I met a lady at a conference several years ago who told me that when her mind begins to be overloaded with thoughts, she takes a notebook and writes down every...
The Problem with the Snooze Button
Pushing the snooze button is part of my normal morning routine. I set my alarm thirty minutes early just so I can push this button three times before getting out of bed. I love knowing I can lay my head back down for ten minutes...... three times. But the problem...
Today Matters
It's just another Tuesday in August. The last Tuesday in August of 2013. We'll soon be clicking away at September, then October, and on and on. If we're not careful, we can slip into a routine that has us so forward-thinking that we miss the very moments around...
How I Start My Mornings
There's something about knowing today isn't in my own hands. My hands are often weak, unqualified, unequipped, and unsteady. My hands often try to hold too many things at once, causing the most cherished things to slip through my fingers. I could become discouraged...
In December of 2007 as our youngest son, Nick, was fighting brain cancer, I began to blog. Writing provided a way for me to release all of my questions, fears, and doubts. It also allowed me to share the ups and downs of Nick's journey with people who were praying for him all over the world. When Nick went Home in November of 2008, my blog became my way of searching for God in the midst of my deep heartache. My heart was broken and grief brought to the surface every emotion imaginable. Being able to release those emotions through my writing brought a sense of purpose to my pain. Having already walked the road of grief in 1992 when we lost our daughter to SIDS, I knew I needed a way to keep from falling into a pit of depression and despair. I had walked close to the edge of a bottomless pit when we lost our daughter, and I knew I couldn't let myself get that close to the edge again. This blog has been and continues to be my tiny corner of the world where I can share My Heart as I journey through God's Word.......thus the name........ My Heart His Words. Thank you for taking time to share life with me. If we do not meet while here on earth, I look forward to hearing all about your life when we reach our final destiny.........Heaven!
