Do You Want to be Pure??????
There's something about the word "pure" that seems so unattainable. The dictionary gives these synonyms for the word: unmixed, unadulterated, unalloyed, uncontaminated, untainted, unstained, undefiled, untarnished, immaculate, unpolluted, uncorrupted. modest,...
What it means to be a servant…..
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very natureGod, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, ...
Like a child……..
I noticed something this Fourth of July weekend. I'm not sure if what I noticed came more from the fact that my kids are growing up and not as "excited" about fireworks as they once were or more from the fact that I wasn't really around any small children during the...
Paul’s Jesus-filled View of Captivity……
Most of the time when we hear of someone being sentenced to prison because of their faith in Christ, we do not respond with the words, "Praise God!" There is a natural instinct inside of us that cries out at the injustice. I am sure the people in Philippi were not...
Philippians: The Beginning…….
Deep breaths. That's what I find myself taking more and more. You know the kind of breaths that other people hear and then ask, 'Are you ok?' That's the kind I'm talking about. Sometimes they're breaths of frustration when I'm dealing with a moody daughter. Other...
Roots……….
I've heard that a tree's branches never grow taller than the depths of the tree's roots.... That is so true of me too! I long to be more, do more, reach further........but I find myself struggling so often to simply be what I already am. What is the secret to growing?...
What I’ve Been Up To……
Spending time with people is definitely one of my favorite things to do, so in some ways I've loved having the opportunity to meet all of the youth groups that have been visiting the campus of KCU and also seeing alumni who I remember from the past 20 years of...
Don’t Quench the Spirit…..
Thursday of last week, I headed out of town again! This time, I spent the weekend in Nashville visiting Erich and Mallory! Our busy days and nights left me with no time to write, but I promise that you were on my heart and mind every day. I think that might be the...
Not afraid to shine…….
Wouldn't it be great if we could all be as confident in our purpose as the Statue of Liberty is in hers? To boldly stand and shine even in the darkest places.... That's what God has called us to do. II Cor. 4:5-6 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ...
Looking back and then forward…..
I loved this quote that was written on a glass window in Philadelphia, "Go back to the past to build the future." On a very personal level, I have learned that going back to my past and remembering how God walked the road of grief with me after we lost Adrienne has...
In December of 2007 as our youngest son, Nick, was fighting brain cancer, I began to blog. Writing provided a way for me to release all of my questions, fears, and doubts. It also allowed me to share the ups and downs of Nick's journey with people who were praying for him all over the world. When Nick went Home in November of 2008, my blog became my way of searching for God in the midst of my deep heartache. My heart was broken and grief brought to the surface every emotion imaginable. Being able to release those emotions through my writing brought a sense of purpose to my pain. Having already walked the road of grief in 1992 when we lost our daughter to SIDS, I knew I needed a way to keep from falling into a pit of depression and despair. I had walked close to the edge of a bottomless pit when we lost our daughter, and I knew I couldn't let myself get that close to the edge again. This blog has been and continues to be my tiny corner of the world where I can share My Heart as I journey through God's Word.......thus the name........ My Heart His Words. Thank you for taking time to share life with me. If we do not meet while here on earth, I look forward to hearing all about your life when we reach our final destiny.........Heaven!
