Life is filled with everyday things……..
Laundry….lots and lots and lots of laundry……. (and yes, that is a black sock and something blue mixed in with my whites) Pancakes………
With peanut butter (the only way to eat them if you were raised in my home)..
Cups of coffee (morning, noon, or night…we love coffee)……. And potatoes that I need to use since they are growing eyes……
I am thankful for these everyday things, but more than that, I am thankful that God is present even in these not-so-exciting, sometimes mundane, parts of life.
Mountaintop experiences are life-changing but not so frequent.
Valleys are also filled with His presence in undeniable and powerful ways.
But the everyday kind-of days……there are so many more of those kind of days, and God loves to show up there too.
So, if you find yourself having a regular day where you are checking things off your list like I am….
Scheduling dentist appointments
Rescheduling allergy doctor appointments
Buying tomato plants and attempting to plant a garden
Putting away your thirtieth load of laundry
Unloading the dishwasher…again……
Putting in another day at work
Whatever it is that fills your day, seek God in those ordinary moments.
He is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And He longs to meet you in the mundane, everyday stuff…..
I am sure Moses wasn’t expecting this historic moment as he tended the sheep of his father-in-law——
Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. Then Moses said, ‘I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.’ When the Lord saw that he had turned aside, God called to him out of the bush, ‘Moses, Moses!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’ Then he said, ‘Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.’ He said further, ‘I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
(Exodus 3:1-6)
Praying that, like Moses, you see God today in a mighty way!
Tammy
Since the potatoes have eyes, you could cut them up and plant them in your garden.
